Neck pain could also be caused by sports-related injuries, a car accident, whiplash, lack of stretching, pinched nerves, herniated discs, or even throat infections that result in swelling.

When your neck pain isn’t treated and continues to become strained, the strain develops into micro-trauma. You feel this as a dull ache or tightness. This is your body’s way of trying to repair itself by laying down scar tissue. As this tissue builds, it begins to affect normal health functioning, therefore it’s important to treat pain in your neck early on.
